Open your Etsy shop¶
Your goal: complete Etsy's own setup process and open the shop you will sell from.
1. Start on Etsy¶
Open Etsy's seller registration in a desktop browser. Sign in or create your Etsy account and follow the setup prompts. Etsy's opening-a-shop guide is the reference if a screen differs from these steps.
2. Set your shop preferences¶
Choose your language, country and currency carefully. For a UK-based shop, check that the location and bank details describe your real setup. Do not choose another country just to copy a tutorial.
3. Pick a shop name¶
Choose something easy to read and remember. Check Etsy's availability message and consider whether the name will still fit if your collection grows. Avoid another business's name or branding.
4. Prepare your first listing¶
Follow the listing step in Etsy's setup flow. Use a real product you can supply, with an accurate image, description and price. Do not publish an empty placeholder simply to get through registration. Our first-listing walkthrough explains what to prepare.
5. Complete payments and verification¶
Follow the bank, billing and identity checks shown in your account. Use accurate details and turn on the security options Etsy requests. If verification is pending, use Etsy's instructions rather than repeatedly creating new accounts.
6. Read the charges before opening¶
Etsy may charge a one-off setup fee. The applicable amount is shown during registration and varies by location. Do not assume every shop costs £14 to open. Listing, transaction and payment-related charges are separate. Check Etsy's current fees before confirming.
7. Review the shop as a visitor¶
Once the setup is complete, open the public shop link in a signed-out browser. Check the name, first listing, prices and images. Next, add the information that helps a new visitor trust your shop.
You do not need DraftSprite to open Etsy
Create the Etsy shop directly with Etsy. DraftSprite can help prepare future listing packs, and Etsy connection availability is explained in the connection guide.
Your next step¶
