Physical prints & production partners¶
Your goal: know exactly what will be printed, how it reaches the buyer and what it costs you.
Understand the order journey¶
You create the design and listing. A customer places an order. You or your fulfilment integration send the correct artwork and product choices to the printer. The printer produces and dispatches the order, and you remain the customer's point of contact.
Do not assume that connecting DraftSprite to Etsy also connects your printer or pays for production. Confirm the order-routing and payment process with your chosen fulfilment provider.
Choose products you can explain¶
Start with a manageable range of sizes and finishes. Ask the printer about paper weight and finish, print area, borders, framing options, packaging, production times, dispatch location and delivery destinations.
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Product sample | You need to know the colour, paper and packaging the customer receives |
| File specification | The printer may require particular dimensions, colour settings or bleed |
| Frame choices | A frame shown in a mock-up must match the option sold, or be clearly described as styling |
| Delivery charges | Larger frames and international orders can cost much more to send |
| Replacement process | Know who to contact and what evidence is needed if an item arrives damaged |
Add the production partner in Etsy¶
Etsy describes a production partner as a separate person or business that helps physically produce your original designs. Follow Etsy's production-partner guidance and attach the correct partner to the relevant listings.
In DraftSprite, review the available product and Etsy defaults, then check the resulting Etsy draft. If a required partner or setting is not present in the app, complete it directly in Etsy before publishing.
Check sizes and artwork¶
A paper size and an image ratio are different things. A-series sizes share a ratio; 8 × 10 inches is 4:5. Check each output rather than assuming one export fits every option without changes.
Use the poster sizes guide and free ratio checker, then confirm the final file with your printer.
Your next step¶
- I have checked a sample of the product I intend to sell.
- I know the production, packaging and delivery costs.
- I know how orders reach the printer and how production is paid for.
- My partner, processing time and dispatch details are accurate.
